Year of Projects 15 – Week 2

This week saw me begin working on the Franklin Park Tank by Jennifer Brou. This is a vest style pattern featuring intrasia and an open side construction feature. What attracted me to this pattern was how easily I could see this working in my current wardrobe, both casually and in a work setting.

For yarn for this project I settled on Rauma Finull PT2 In the colours 436 and 0470. Suggested needle size is 3.5mm with a suggested gauge of 25 stitches x 37 rows. I got gauge with the 3.5mm needles which made it easier for me to then just get started on the body of the Tank.

I cast on the body of the tank as I commuted home from work on Monday and have worked on and off on it during my daily commute. It’s going smoothly so far and I’m enjoying the project to date, even if the pattern is slightly unintuitive. I am at this point considering adding just a little more length to the body of the tank as the measurement guide for size 2 sugggests an underarm to hem length of 11.75″ and this I feel could

That is all I have for you this week. You can check out the other participants weekly posts for the Year of Projects 15 here, and to read more about what the Year of Projects in you can check out my Week 1 post here. I will leave you now with this years current list;

    Congrats on Intarsia. That’s a technique I still have to master. I can never figure out how to “crossover” the yarns correctly so as not to leave a hole.

      Thank you Maureen, I just carry the yarn across the working yarn I’m using, and when chanigng yarns I bring it from underneath the yarn I’m carrying across. I’m not sure if that makes sense.

    Ruth, as always, your knitting skills impress me. How nice you have a commute where you can work on your vest.

      Thank you Marsha, I have an hour 20 mins in the morning and evening of a commute so it is really quite lovely to be able to knit once more while travelling

    Your colors are fantastic, Ruth! I hope finding your needles again is bringing you peace and joy! When I rediscovered cross stitch again in 2018, I slowly fell out of love with knitting. I am enjoying it again. Have a lovely week. ♥️

      Kim I am so happy to hear you are finding the love of your needles again also. I know what it is like to lose that love and to have it back in your life again. I’m so glad you are finding the time now in your retirement and that we have both come back to YOP this year.

    What a great way to pass the time on your commute to and from work, Ruth. That vest is so cool looking.

      Thank you Becki, the construction and colourwork is what attracted me to begin with.

    I can’t seem to see your first two images, I can see the third and the colours go great together. Brave knitting in black but definitely the right season to be doing it with longer light days. It’s a very crisp line between the colours.

      Thank you Liz for letting me know, I’ve fixed the images now. I only wear black and this deep royal purple is the first colour I’ve added into an item of clothing in quite awhile so I fear you will be seeing a lot of black

    This is an interesting top. Your colours are lovely and it’s great that you can also make use of your commute in this way. I’m looking forward to seeing this progress.

    I’m excited to see how this turns out. I would have loved this when I was younger but now that I have a bit too much stuffing I would need sides. I would love to see how this looks on you.
